Three ways in which leaders can help integrate ethical decision making into the day-to-day culture of an organization
- Leaders demonstrating their own commitment to ethical behaviors and decisions made by other managers and employees;
- A clear code of ethics should be promulgated and followed; a whistle-blowing policy to forbid retaliation against those who report wrongdoing or other ethical procedures should be established and followed;
- Managers and employees alike should be involved in the identification of ethical problems and efforts to solve them;
- The performance appraisal process should include consideration of ethical issues; and
- The organizational priorities and efforts related to ethical issues should be widely publicized.
